The Republic of the Suez Canal is an ideal stateless nation conceived as a community that fits into the geopolitics of trade routes to deconstruct the strategies of current and future consumerism. Taking the Suez Canal, born from European imperialist ambition, as its symbol, the Republic designs global trajectories by imagining new models of common citizenship and coexistence, above any state interests. In this way it builds nomadic architectures of welcome, relief and resistance for its citizens, united only by the economic–financial system in which they live. Their first appearance was the project Marco Polo Returns through Suez at the Swamp Pavilion (16th Venice Architecture Biennale).
