Tania Bruguera (b.1968, Havana, Cuba) is leading international artist and activist examining political power structures and their effect on injustice with her politically engaged art practices. The Velázquez Prize, Arnold Bode Prize, Robert Rauschenberg Award and the Herb Alpert Award, are among her recognitions. She holds a Doctor Honoris Causa at the Maryland Institute College of Art and at her alma mater. She has shown at Documenta (2002, 2022), Venice Biennales (2001, 2005, 2009, 2015), Guggenheim Museum, MoMA, Tate Modern, MMK and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana. She is a Senior Lecturer at Harvard University and the founding director of INSTAR.
