Yan Shanchun, born in 1957 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, holds a bachelor’s degree in printmaking and a doctor’s degree in history and theory from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Fine Arts). A distinct style has been born through Yan’s practice of paintings and etchings: clear and lofty, remote and profound, tempered and classic.
